Labor Party candidate for House of Representatives, Ekin Adams Abubakar, a Green Chamber member for 16 years representing the Chakun/Kaguru federal constituency, defeated Yakubu Barde in last Saturday’s elections in Kaduna State.
Yakubu Barde has been a member of the House of Representatives, representing Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency since 2003.
Announcing the results in Kaduna on Monday, the returning officer, Professor Bashir Abubakar, explained that the Labor Party candidate defeated the incumbent with 57,725 votes against the Democratic Progressive Party candidate who got 47,937 votes, while Kainu Kafra Boaz of the General People’s Congress came third with 19,293. sound.
The returning officer stated that Ekin, having fulfilled the requirements of the law, was declared elected.
