Leeds United vs Man City: Guardiola warns Haaland

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has warned striker Erling Haaland not to expect him to be softened by any kind words from Leeds United before he returns to the city of his birth.

Haaland will be the center of attention more than usual on Wednesday night when Man City take on Leeds United at Elland Road.

Haaland, who has scored 24 goals in 19 appearances for Guardiola’s side, was born in the West Yorkshire town in 2000 during his father Alf Inge’s three-year stint as a defender with the Whites.

The Norway international grew up supporting Leeds Leeds as well as Man City, where Alf Inge later played in the past.

“It’s not going to be a friendly. They want to win, we want to win. Their fans will push their team,” Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s game with Leeds United.

“Hopefully, Erling will not be tainted by the kind words from the opponent. I think he will be ready and I’m sure Jesse would rather play with our good players on the field.”
