Liquidity crisis: Sheho Sane hit back as Ganduji and Rifai attack Buhari on Tinubu

A former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, told President Muhammadu Buhari to expect more attacks from the governors of his political party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, following his new monetary policies.

Buhari, in his broadcast on Thursday directed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to allow only old N200 banknotes to be in joint circulation with new N200, N500 and N1000 banknotes for a period of 60 days.

Since the broadcast, some APC governors have vehemently opposed the president’s decision, with Kano State Governor Umar Abdullah Ganduji slamming Buhari for refusing to comply with the Supreme Court’s orders and proceed with the ban on the old Nira notes.

In an audio recording, Ganduji is quoted as asking him, “President Buhari must remember that for several times he has been trying to vie for the presidency but has not been able to until there is an alliance.”

After enjoying it all, Ganduji said, Buhari had returned “against the very democratic system he saw in office”.

Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir Al-Rifai also criticized the president’s decision and asked residents of the state to continue using the old naira notes.

In his broadcast, Rifai urged the people of Kaduna State to stand strong for democracy, peace and national unity.

Reacting, Sani, a member of the Eighth National Assembly, who represented Kaduna Central district in the upper house, tweeted, “The president should expect more attacks from his party’s governors.

“He has taken the miracle stick and crossed it and wants to leave his men in the middle of the Red Sea.”
