March 11 Polls: Confusion over IEC ‘postponement’ of state elections

There is speculation that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed the gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

The exercise scheduled for Saturday 11 March has reportedly been postponed by one week – Saturday 18 March.

The National Information Commissioner, Festus Okoye did not receive calls by the daily mail until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The electoral referee is categorically accused of not being sufficiently prepared for the 2023 general elections.

Earlier today, an appeals court granted a prayer by the Independent Electoral Commission to reconfigure the dual-status voter accreditation system, BVAS, ahead of state polls.

A source within the Labor Party, LP, said there was no cause for concern that Peter Obi’s appeal against the IEC’s application had been rejected.

“We have been granted access to the BVAS scan. The contents are backed up, so there is no problem at this time,” the insider told DAILY POST.
