Members of the Peacebuilding Commission in Kano want to punish Bashir Ahmed for abandoning his participation in the World Cup in Qatar

Some members of the Progressive Congress Party, APC, members in Kano have urged the party leadership to immediately take stern measures against Bashir Ahmed, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, for his alleged disregard for the party’s progress.

The members accused Bashir Ahmed of choosing to attend the ongoing World Cup final in a distant Qatar at a time when the party is struggling to control Kano and Nigeria in general.

Alhaji Samani Inwa, one of the party leaders from the Kaya local government, told reporters along with other members that Ahmed’s case is a matter of concern.

He said, “We cannot understand how Bashir Ahmed chose to be in Qatar when we were in Kano in the Kaya local government to launch campaigns for the ruling party and other positions.

“If every member of the party behaves the way Al-Bashir did, we do not believe that the GPC will reach electoral positions, so it must be punished quickly to act as a deterrent to others.”

In the same vein, leaders of the ruling party congratulated Abdullah Ganduji for ensuring that the peaceful flag was raised for the Wali’s campaigns in Kaya, stressing that despite odds against the likes of Bashir Ahmed, the APC would win in Kano.

Bashir Ahmed, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on Online Media, tweeted his picture in a stadium in Qatar watching the World Cup. The tweet sparked a backlash, with party members describing his behavior as unfortunate.

Efforts to reach Ahmed had been unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
