Messi and Ronaldo top the Forbes list of the 10 highest-paid sports players for 2022[ Full list]
Forbes has released its list of the highest-paid sports people for the past 2022.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo are two of only three players on the list.
Forbes’ list of the 10 highest-paid sports personalities includes Brazilian superstar Neymar.
According to the Forbes list, Messi is the highest-paid sports player of the year, beating out competition from basketball legend LeBron James.
Messi snatched the crown with a total of £108m. He has lucrative deals with Adidas, Budweiser, PepsiCo, and Hard Rock International. All together, he earned £45m in off-field payments.
Ronaldo earned £96m in 2022 through sponsorship deals with Nike, Herbalife and Clear Shampoo.
The Portuguese also has an Instagram buzz (the most followed person) which has helped him earn £46m off the field.
LeBron James is on the list at £101m. Neymar 79 million pounds, Stephen Curry 77 million pounds.
Others are Kevin Durant (£77m), Roger Federer (£75m), Canelo Alvarez (£75m), Tom Brady (£70m) and Giannis Antetokunmo (£67m).
