African Labor Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Soore on Wednesday ousted President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor Godwin Emifiele on newly redesigned naira notes.
Suwar Buhari and Imphili were accused of playing the role of the Nigerians by redesigning the naira.
In a tweet, the AAC presidential candidate described the president and the CBN governor as frauds.
He stressed that there has not been much change in the naira, and it seems that Nigerians have been cheated again.
Buhari unveiled the redesigned notes N200, N500 and N1000 at the start of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
New Naira notes will become legal tender from December 15, while old ones will cease to be legal tender from February 1, 2023.
This is the first time in 19 years that Nigeria has redesigned some of its banknotes.
Sharing a photo on Twitter, Sowore expressed his disappointment with the development.
He wrote: “cenbank’s GodwinIEmefiele, and MBuhari just played Nigerians over their so called fraudulent Naira redesign. Nothing was ‘redesigned’ just a tint change. Scammers! #WeCantContinueLikeThis”.
