The Vice-Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Danpata, has been awarded an ambassador badge by the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdul Rashid Bawa.
This is in appreciation of his efforts towards establishing an anti-corruption culture in the telecommunications industry.
Bawa presented the badge to Danpatta yesterday in Abuja when the latter paid a courtesy visit to his office to deepen cooperation between the two agencies.
The NCC, led by Professor Danpatta, has been at the forefront of promoting transparency and openness by strengthening the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit in line with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) Act.
In 2020, the International Cable Protection Commission (ICPC) ranked the NCC higher than other departments and agencies under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MoCDE).
The National Coordinating Committee topped the list among three other agencies of the ministry, which appeared in the classification of ministerial agencies with regard to ethical compliance and institutional integrity with a score of 81.15 percent.
Similarly, the Commission led 24 other regulatory agencies to emerge as the most ethically compliant parastatals out of 25 different regulatory agencies assessed in the Anti-Graft Agency’s Compliance and Ethics Scorecards (ECIS), 2020.
In 2017, the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) awarded the NCC the highest platinum rating for its corporate work processes, thanks to its strong business organizational structure and policies and practices that facilitated effective and efficient delivery of services.
In reaching this conclusion, the BPSR has also listed the responsibilities and responsibilities for developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manuals for the 19 body divisions as some important points.
In the same vein, NCC’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT) has been at the forefront of implementing a series of preventative measures in the country, helping in the process of reducing cybercrime.
