Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates to strengthen defense relations

The National Defense College of Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to increase the national strength of the two countries.

Head of the delegation of the UAE National Defense Center Brig. Mehdi Al Ahbabi and the Commander of the National Defense College of Nigeria met with Commodore Murtala Bashir on Monday.

Major General Al-Bashir had received Al-Ahbabi and members of the delegation in his office in Abuja.

Al Ahbabi explained that the visit was to exchange knowledge and study how Nigeria can carry out its activities to fulfill its mission.

The officer revealed the UAE’s belief that the armed forces are a tool for measuring its national strength.

Major General Al-Ahbabi said that the majority of his country’s army personnel are civilians in other sectors of the government and the private sector.

Speaking, Al-Bashir said the college develops future strategic leaders within the army, security services, ministries and strategic government agencies.

The head of the National Defense College said that the college has participants from allied countries, adding that the current session includes 21 participants from 20 countries.

The officer, Major General Al-Bashir, noted that security has become more complex, volatile and uncertain, and thus requires partnership between allies.
