Today, Saturday, the head of the Independent National Elections Commission, Professor Mahmoud Yacoubou, announced the extension of the voting period for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The presidential and National Assembly elections were held on Saturday, but due to a delay in the arrival of voting materials and IEC staff, the commission decided to extend polling to February 26, 2023.
The Independent National Electoral Commission said the decision was necessary because of pockets of violence and “tactical denial of the right to vote in some areas.”
According to INEC, elections will continue in Lagos: Surulere, Ikate, Okota, Eti-Osa, Kosofe, Oshodi and some places in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Other places include Ebony and Rivers. Imo, Anambra, Kano, Edo, Delta, Kogi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Sokoto, Taraba, Abia, Ekiti.
