Governor Ifyeni Okwa on Friday thanked the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for choosing him as his vice president.
The Delta Commander addressed PDP supporters during the party’s campaign in South Ica and Northeast Ica local government areas in the state.
The governor pointed out that since the old state of Bendel, no one from Delta has emerged as the country’s leader or deputy.
I thank the leadership of the Democratic Progressive Party and our presidential candidate Alhaji Atiko Abubakar for finding me to be his vice presidential candidate.
“I have challenged our people in Delta that as a country, we must cross the million-vote mark.”
Okua mandated the residents of Ica to provide at least 180,000 votes for the PDP.
The governor urged them to justify his choice and to surrender their wards during the poll.
On the selection of Sheriff Obrevori as the party’s nominee for governor, Okwa said he was “divine.”
Atiku picked the former senator ahead of Rivers Gov. Nesom Weik, runner-up at the PDP’s national convention last May.
