The Center for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has written to congratulate the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his victory in the highly contested Nigerian presidential election held last Saturday.
In an open letter to Tinubu on Friday, CALCO, on behalf of its president, Dipo Adeniran, said the organization was not surprised by the former Lagos state governor’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, adding that history will not be forgotten.
The message has been read in full:
Your emergence as President-elect was yet another milestone in the country’s history, and also shows the tremendous level of trust placed in you by the people.
We were not particularly surprised by your recent success at the polls because since you emerged as the standard-bearer of your party, the All-Progressive Congress (APC), we had no doubt that you would emerge victorious in the presidential election.
History will not quickly forget the energy and vitality you devoted to political activism, democratic struggles, and your endearing work, which manifested itself in raising many other people who are doing so well in our political space today.
With this victory, you wrongly proved the “skeptical Thomas” who thought you would have only marginal success in geopolitical areas where your political party held sway. You have also proven to the world that your claim not to have lost an election since the time you got involved in politics is no accident.
We hope you will benefit from your years of experience and transformational leadership style in running the affairs of this great country. We also believe that your ability, ability and strong managerial acumen will play a major role in transforming the various sectors of our country and awakening the sleeping giant in Nigeria by transforming the country into a major economic and agricultural hub of Africa.
As a true democrat, we hope that you, along with your team, will bring together all Nigerians regardless of their tribal, political or religious affiliation so that Nigeria can continue the path of unity, self-reliance, economic growth and development.
