Rivers State Governor Nissum Weke said on Monday that Nigerians should not vote for a sectarian leader in the 2023 presidential election.
Wike said Nigeria does not need a man who told voters not to vote for a Yoruba or Igbo man.
He spoke while criticizing HDP, Democratic Progressive Party, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, regarding his recent comment.
Atiku said that northerners need to vote for him instead of a Yoruba or Igbo candidate because he is a Nigerian of northern descent.
The Daily Post reported that Atiku made the remark in October during an interactive session with the Arewa Joint Commission held in Kaduna state.
However, speaking at the road commissioning station in Imohwa District, Rivers State, Wike also described Rabio Kwankwaso as an honest man of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP.
According to Wike: “It is not enough to say don’t vote for an Igbo man or for a Yoruba man, but what we need is to vote for you who will lead Nigeria to development. Kwankwaso is an honest man.”
