North London derby: Why did Tottenham fans attack me – Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has explained why a Tottenham Hotspur fan attacked him after his team’s 2-0 North London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Remember, Ramsdale was celebrating after the full-time whistle as a goal by Hugo Lloris, and Martin Odegaard’s goal ensured Mike Artet’s team beat the hosts.

The 24-year-old was involved in a heated exchange with Richarlison before a Tottenham fan decided to attack him.
Ramsdale was off the field at this point as he went to get his water bottle before the fan ran up to the billboards and kicked him in the back.

However, Ramsdale, who delivered a man-of-the-match performance for Arsenal against Tottenham, said he was getting some comments from Tottenham fans behind him, making some post-match jokes at them, and kissing the armband.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Ramsdale said: “The Tottenham fans were giving me some during the second half. I gave them back some of the things that might have been well received, like sportsmanship, and then one of the fans jumped up and gave me a little bit of a kick.” [kick] In the back, that’s what happened.

“It’s a shame because it’s just a game of football at the end of the day. Both teams of players tried to push me away, fortunately nothing happened too drastic, but it’s bad taste – I’m sure we’ll enjoy it when we get back to the dressing room.”
