The Director General of the Obi Dati Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokon, revealed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo endorsed his appointment.
Osuntokun revealed this while appearing on Channels Television show, Politics Today.
Obasanjo’s former spokesperson replaced Doyin Okupe after the latter resigned his appointment.
Okupe resigned as Obi-Datti’s campaign manager after being found guilty of breaching the Money Laundering Act by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
After Okupe resigned, Osuntokun was appointed, with many believing that Obasanjo was involved in the selection process.
Calling Obasanjo a father figure, Osunkun said he has the ability to fulfill his duties as campaign manager.
Asked if Obasanjo supported his appointment, Osonkon said: “Yes, he is a father figure for us and not as allies. I was the direct regional coordinator in the Southwest, so this is just a hike.”
“It’s not that I just joined the campaign. People who say it’s Obasanjo’s hole are free to say so.”
