Obi would not like most Nigerians – Atiku replies to Obasanjo
The election campaign organization of the PDP presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of the Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi as his wish.
Obasanjo in a Sunday morning message endorsed Obi for the presidential election in February 2023.
In response, Atiku’s presidential campaign spokesperson Kola Olugbondian said on Sunday that Obasanjo’s endorsement did not reflect the wishes of most Nigerians.
Atiku’s campaign said Obi does not have the required experience, adding that the PDP candidate is the most experienced of all the candidates. He expressed confidence that most Nigerians would support and elect the PDP’s presidential candidate.
According to the former PDP National Publicity Secretary, former President Obasanjo is entitled to his personal opinion, which remains individual and cannot redirect Nigerians from their determination to vote for Atiku to save and rebuild Nigeria from the alleged misrule of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He expressed his surprise at the support of the former President of Obi, who does not have any experience in governing at the national level in the face of the disturbing challenges facing the nation, which requires a tried and tested hand.
The statement reads in part: “In any case, President Obasanjo’s opinion cannot sway Nigerians who can easily remember how he endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari, whose (Obasanjo’s) administration now describes as “stressful years for many Nigerians,” during which our nation has “transitioned.” From frying pan to fire, from mountain top to valley.
“Therefore, it is very difficult for Nigerians, especially the youth demographic, to accept President Obasanjo’s view as a solution to the myriad of challenges facing the nation today because the last candidate he presented, in his estimation, to failed Nigerians.
Our campaign states that none of the presidential candidates has the experience, the ability, the perseverance of purpose, the presence of mind and the willingness to act like Atiku Abubakar.
“Atiku remains the most widely accepted candidate, whose selection is not based on sectarian, tribal, racial or religious sentiments or endorsement of any individual, high or low, but by record of ability and performance, authentic vision, honesty, character; physical ability And the mental indicators developed by the former president.
“It is useful to mention that every claim made by former President Obasanjo regarding the success of his administration is a reflection of the performance of Atiku Abubakar as his Vice President and Chairman of the National Economic Council during which our nation achieved unprecedented economic growth to become one of the fastest growing economies in the world.”
Olugbondian said it was an offense to the former president to make self-suggestions even when it is clear that when Atiku becomes president, Nigeria will be saved from this “present dismal state”.
Atiku Campaign urged Nigerians not to be distracted by subjective opinions but to stay focused on the determination to save the nation through the election of the former Vice President.
