Ogun East PDP, ADC stalwarts take off to APC
Chairpersons, secretaries and members of the HDP Executive Council, in Ijebu East, Ijebu North and Ogun Waterside local governments on Thursday renounced Ladi Adepoto and declared their support for Governor Dabo Abiodun.
The decampees were led to Itoro Hall in Ijebu-Ode by Hon. Kehinde Bello, former House of Representatives aspirant on the PDP platform from Ijebu North/Ogun Waterside and Ijebu East.
Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of Ijebu North, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside LGAs also attended the ceremony.
Speaking while leading PDP members to the APC, he is a staunch ally of the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Kehinde Ayodele Bello said, they decided to join the progressives and work for the success of the APC in the upcoming elections with the conviction that Abiodun is a better candidate than Adebutu.
Hon Bello, who recounted how he and his supporters had agreed to abandon the umbrella party as it had no future for its members, was planned to get out of the House of Representatives contention by the PDP by replacing the name in Abuja.
“I was robbed after the primary I won. My name was replaced in Abuja. So I decided to quit the party. Today I announced that I quit the party. The governor knows what the people want and he caters to their needs. The APC is the people’s party and we will work for its success in ballot boxes.”
He explained that despite their efforts in building the party, they were not given due recognition, and insisted that there was a need for them to search for a platform that was in line with their individual and collective aspirations.
Also speaking, PDP Chairperson, North East Ijebu Local Government Area Ayo Ogunvuora said they had come to announce the death of the DPP in the state and burial on March 18.
By the time we start working with the APC, there will be nothing left of the opposition party.
“We are conducting an operation to show no mercy and kill the PDP in Ijebu Northeast. We are joining you because you are performers and we will never disappoint you,” said Ogunfowora.
In her remarks, the women’s leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ijebu-Ode, Elha Kimi Agbola, said that the former leaders of her party had deceived them, stressing that they had seen the light, hence their decision to join the party in power.
While receiving the governors on behalf of the NPC chiefs and state heads, the state governor, Prince Dabo Abiodun, commended the former members of the opposition for making the right choice by joining the winning party, describing the PDP and others as parties without followers.
According to Governor Abiodun, since the APC controls at the federal level, it is also necessary to control the state in order to synergize for the food of the state.
He said the party was receiving large wigs from opposition parties, praising them for leaving the ship before it finally sank.
The governor pointed out that the GPC is too big to accommodate the largest possible number of people, and urged them not to feel like outsiders, but to integrate and work for the party’s success in the upcoming elections for the Board of Governors and the House of Representatives.
