Olawipo Hashim congratulates Tinubu and entrusts him with national reconciliation

Gbenga Olawipo Kachem, Leader of the Congress of the Progressive Congress, has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his assumption of office as the elected President of Nigeria following the election on Saturday 25 February.

But the former People’s Trust 2019 presidential candidate tasked him with national reconciliation and healing while serving as President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking via a statement issued by his media office in Abuja, he warned that reconciliation and wound healing should not be overlooked as they are essential to move the country forward.

Olawipo urged Hashim Tinubu to ensure that his government is not of the victors alone, but an inclusive government to advance national unity.

“The Nigerian voters who endured so much hardship and provocations during the elections are the true heroes of the elections,” he stressed.

The message they are sending is clear: they want real change.

“Our youth have been special in this election, they have come out in droves to say out loud that they want a better Nigeria.

“They represent the best of our democracy and an immediate future that no force can stop.”

Olawipo Hashim urged the Independent National Election Commission, to work harder to improve the gubernatorial and House of Representatives elections, saying its behavior almost ruined the elections.

He added that Nigerian democracy must move beyond the chronic problem of voter intimidation, especially those who are considered non-indigenous.

He also congratulated the other contenders, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and Labor Party’s Peter Obi, praising them for their behavior despite their reservations about holding the elections.
