The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijesaland has been accused of destroying Gideon Alloba’s campaign billboards.
Aloba is the Labor Party candidate for the Ijesa South federal constituency in the 2023 general election.
Alloba alleged that his campaign posters in the four local governments of Elisa East, Elisa West, Ataconmosa East and Ataconmosa West were subjected to coordinated and sustained attacks by sponsors who are members of the PDP.
The House of Representatives hoped to denounce the policy of sabotage, intimidation and violence in the region.
He complained that seven of his campaign billboards were destroyed by DPP supporters between Thursday evening and Friday morning.
“PDP supporters destroyed two of my billboards in Elisa East, two more in Ataconmosa West and one at local governments in Ataconmosa East. Two of my small billboards were uprooted in Ifewara and Igangan.
A few months ago, some DPP thugs went to attack a supporter, Rabio Ismailia and some other PT members in Oudi, Igangan and Olupon villages. We have reported this to the police but so far nothing has been done.”
Meanwhile, the Osun State government had said in a statement made by Ulawal Rasheed, spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, that the sudden escalation of violence in the state is linked to the presence of former Governor Adigboyega Oyetola.
Oitola, Chairman of the Osun Presidential Campaign Committee Tinubu/Chitema, was in Osogbo to launch the commission in the state in preparation for the 2023 presidential election.
In response, Familusi Oladele Isaiah, Director of Media for the PDP Ijesa South Federal Department in a phone conversation with DAILY POST, denied the allegations.
According to him, “It’s a very big lie from the hell hole. PDP is not a party that can do that. By the way, who knows him in all of South Ijesa?”
“As I speak to you, we have reports that he is negotiating with APC. He has been threatened by the APC to form an alliance with them as they realize that the DPP as the ruling party is better positioned to win all the tickets in Ijessa South.
“Everything that happened to him is a matter of agreement between him and the APC. It is not our problem.”
