Oyo: I wouldn’t quit for Folarin – SDP candidate, Lana
Lawyer Michael Folorunsho Lana of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State has announced that he will not step down from the position of the ruling Senate candidate of the Progressive Congress Party (APC) Teslim Folarin.
Lana, the former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, made the revelation while addressing a press conference on Wednesday night in Ibadan.
The Daily Post gathered that some party leaders had earlier pledged their support to Folarin.
But Lana, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, said he was still in the running to win the election on Saturday.
He insisted that he was not leaning towards the APC’s candidate, Tasleem Folarin.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday night in his office, Lana insisted that all of the party’s 11 local government chiefs in Ibadanland do not support Folaren.
He added that the people of the state are looking for a competent hand, not a religious fanatic.
Lana said, “I have just learned that the leadership of our party, the Social Democratic Party, and I’m the gubernatorial candidate, has collapsed its structure in favor of Senator Taslim Folarin, the APC candidate.
“While it is every person’s right to choose the candidate they want to vote for, it is unfortunate how and in what manner this happened, although none of us from Ibadan were surprised because from the very beginning the body language of the Head of State showed that he was not He intended good for the party in spite of all our efforts.
“First, they claimed I wasn’t as rich as the other candidates, but they couldn’t blame the fact that I refused to be rich because I had to use my law practice to fight for the poor and downtrodden and they couldn’t show that the rich candidates they want to support are better than me at getting our people out of the doldrums. extreme poverty or they have the kind integrity i have.
The people of Oyo State wanted a competent hand at the helm of affairs and not a religious fanatic. And it’s easy to figure out the best candidate from the BBC’s Debate and Splash FM debate. I never knew that some of the leaders in Oyo state would stoop to such a level where efficiency would be sacrificed when changing fortunes and religion.
“I want to make clear to everyone that I and all the 11 local government chiefs in the 11 local government areas in Ibadanland do not support Senator Teslem Folaren and I have been mandated not to step down on his behalf or for the APC.”
