Members of the Oyo State House of Representatives have passed the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo Bill 2022.
The Post daily reported that the bill was passed into law on Wednesday.
The bill makes it possible to change Emmanuel Alliande College of Education, Oyo to Emmanuel Alliande University of Education, Oyo.
The legislators approved the draft law after studying it paragraph by paragraph.
DAILY POST has learned that the law has made provisions for the establishment, constitution and functions of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education in Oyo.
Speaking during the plenary session, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adepo Ogundwin, explained that the passage of the bill was another milestone in the history of the 9th House of Representatives.
The assembly’s minority leader, Asimiyu Alarape, who is from Oyo, said in his remarks that it was a dream come true.
He added that the incitement to change the College of Education into a university has been going on for a long time.
Another legislator, Iziaka Kazim Tunde, in his contribution, said that passing the bill into law will boost the social and economic activities of the township.
