Peter Obi: Why we hold Sanwo-Olu responsible for attacks on Igbo in Lagos – Ohanaeze

After the Labor Party’s victory, Peter Obi’s presidential candidate in Lagos State pledged to the Igbo social and political organization, Ohanayezi Ndegbo, to hold Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu responsible for the attacks on Igbo in the state.

Ohanesi said the attack in Lagos state was an attempt to pit the Igbo against the Yoruba.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Secretary Okechukwu Isiguzoro also warned that the body would hold Oba Lagos and MC Oluomo responsible for the attacks on the Igbo community in the state.

Speaking to DAILY POST, Isiguzoro urged people in Lagos State to vote for Sanwo-Olu during the upcoming gubernatorial elections.

According to Isiguzuru: “We have noted the calculated attempt to pit the Yoruba against the Igbos of ethnic colouring, which both clans are fighting because the Labor Party won Lagos state.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that we have the Yoruba who support Obi like Obasanjo and Ayo Adebanjo.

“We hold the Governor of Lagos State responsible for any calculated attack against innocent Igbo traders, and we detain M.C. Olumu and Oba Lagos if anything happens to the traders and the community in Lagos State.

“The Governor of Lagos State has failed in his duties to protect the lives and property of the people of the state, and we demand that he resign with honor for failing to perform his duties.

“Igbos attack in different parts of Lagos State is a cowardly act and it is a sad fact that he has lost control of Lagos State

They are preparing to unleash more terror on the Igbo community ahead of the gubernatorial elections in March. We say to the Lagodisns that since the Governor has failed in his legal obligations to protect them, he should vote for him, but he apologizes and guarantees that life and property will be protected.

“Also, we are saying to the Igbos communities in Lagos that self-defence and determination is a universal law, they must never allow what happened in 1993 to happen in 2023 when Abiola lost the elections and Igbos became the victim.

“Igbos must rise up and defend themselves, they must be peaceful and calm and never get involved in making trouble, but if trouble comes to their doorstep, they must rise up and defend themselves.

“They should never stir up any crisis wherever they are; as Nigerians, they should rise up and defend themselves bravely wherever they are.

“The message is very clear. They should be law-abiding citizens but stand up for themselves.”
