Police and army chiefs meet over the killing of a soldier in Lagos

The Nigerian Police and Army Command met in Lagos State on Thursday over the killing of a soldier in Ikorodu.

Police public relations officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin posted photos of the complaint on Twitter.

CP Idowu Owohunwa and Brigadier IA Akpaumontia of the 9th Brigade met in the office of Lieutenant Colonel MI Abdul Rahman, 174th Battalion Commander, Odoguyan.

On Wednesday, an angry mob from the community of Ogijo, a border town between Ogun and Lagos, attacked a police station after the death of the soldier.

The dead man confronted a policeman who was standing near a patrol vehicle belonging to Operation Mesa to confirm his identity.

This led to an altercation which led to the policeman stabbing the soldier, seriously injuring him.

The soldier was taken to Lagos State Polytechnic Hospital, Odogonyan, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The remains were transferred to the 174th Battalion Medical Center in Ikorodu. The investigation is expected to start soon.
