Police raided IPOB’s hideout in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command said it raided an Indigenous Biafra hideout, IPOB, in the Oigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Police Commissioner Okun Iviong made the announcement on Friday while reviewing suspected criminals terrorizing parts of the state.
According to Effiong, 10 members of IPOB were among those arrested, including those who participated in the arson of Oyigbo Police Station during the EndSARS protest.
Effiong, who vowed that the leadership will not allow any form of criminal activities in the state, revealed that seven of the eight kidnappers who kidnapped the CEO of an oil company on the Rumukuru flyover were arrested and their victim rescued. This was achieved when elements of the leadership stormed the mock civilian JTF camps at Ahuada and Omoko.
CP Effiong, who further disclosed the arrests of more than 120 suspected criminals for various offenses across the state, unearthed statistics on arrests, recoveries and injuries.
“22 kidnapping suspects and 27 armed robbers were arrested while three police officers were killed during the period under review,” he said.
He added that 21 weapons and 136 ammunition were seized, 11 abductees were rescued, and four refueling sites were destroyed by officers between October and December 2022.
