The Niger State Police Command has arrested 17 troubled youths following the death of Achiru Tova from the Limawa district of Minna, the state capital.
In a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Wasio Abiodun in Minna, the command said the suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of one of the youths who were stabbed during the clash.
It stated that “Some miscreants in Ogbomushu Street, Angowan Dagi and Limawa district of Minna, on November 05, 2022 engaged in a fight with dangerous weapons, and as a result, one Asheru Tova from Limawa district was slashed to death.”
The command revealed that after the development, police operatives associated with ‘A’ Minna Squad moved into action and arrested notorious phone kidnapper/thug, 22-year-old Omar Aminu aka Ogobin of Limawa, resulting in 17 arrests. suspects involved in the crisis.
The statement stated that Ogobin helped the police identify 17 other miscreants during a house-to-house raid in the city of Mina.
Among the suspects are Nazir Rabiu (Bush) 20 years old, Musa Suleiman 23 years old, Nuhu Sido 19 years old, Bashir Muhammad 17 years old, Muhammad Gaddafi 19 years old, Salim Omar 24 years old, Abdullah Abu Bakr 19 years old, and Musa Abu Bakr 20 years old from Limawa, Hassan Muhammad 19 years old, Omar Suleiman 19 years old. 19 years old, Abdullah Musa 19 years old, and Abu Bakr Sadiq Muhammad 17 years old, all from Limawa district.
Others are Musa Suleiman, 20, Awal Abu Bakr, 17, and Ibrahim Younusa, 17, from Tariq Al Matar. Bala Bala, 17 years old, from Makira district.
The police spokesperson explained that while the suspects will be brought to trial, efforts are underway to catch the other miscreants.
According to him, “All suspects will be brought to court for their vigorous trial, as efforts and further investigation continue to apprehend other members of the Fugitive Miscreants in order to ensure a permanent peaceful environment in the city of Mina.”
The exhibits recovered from the suspects include one machete, three scissors, two hookah bowls, three pipes, seven knives, one eyelet, one hacksaw, a box containing chisels and wrenches, 21 sticks, a pack of cigarettes, and two polythene bags containing marijuana. Suspect. , a broken bottle and two sharp horns.
Against this background, Abiodun revealed that the State Commissioner of Police, Ogundel J. Ayodeji, direct the District Commanders/District Persons of the Capital to actively initiate continuous sighting patrols in and around the designated areas where battles are taking place.
“CP equally leads police patrol teams on confidence patrols around Limawa, Angowan Daji, Ogbomosho, Makira and Lagos Street,” he added.
