To ensure a snag-free political process in Bauchi State, Omar Maman Sanda, the state police commissioner, has instructed the Departmental Police Officers (DPOs) and leaders of their supervisory districts to employ the strategic deployment of personnel to the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in their respective areas of responsibility to provide a favorable climate.
Speaking to reporters in Bauchi on Sunday, SP Ahmed Wakil, the state’s PPRO office, explained that the development aims to protect INEC materials in and around INEC facilities for surveillance operations to monitor criminal activities with the aim of preventing any plan to disrupt security around them. According to the PPRO, the Communist Party ordered a sweeping crackdown and prosecution of miscreants found around the IEC facilities, saying the police commissioner warned political thugs in their interest across the state to stay away from the IEC facilities/materials. It will not hesitate to deal firmly with any wrongdoer who decides to dare this warning.
“The leadership calls on parents, guardians and stakeholders to triumph over their wards and guards from being used as cannon fodder in destroying vital national infrastructure before, during and after next year’s elections,” he said.
