A coalition of national civil society organizations, CNCSOs has revealed that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sir Godwin Emefiele, had earlier refused to concede electoral spending sought by some politicians.
The group said Emphiel ran into trouble for refusing to request exemptions for election spending and insisting on a cash withdrawal policy, a development they claimed had led to political elements resorting to getting him out of the way.
At a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, the group’s national coordinator, Chief Willy Izogo and Al-Amin Alhaji Ali Abacha said the major plot was to arrest and detain the chief bank governor for 60 days when elections could have been held before they were released. for him.
The aforementioned group indicated that the governor of the Central Bank got away with the false accusations of hairs because they had taken the matter to an incorruptible judge without his knowledge.
They said: “We have all been so applauded for the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria that corrupt politicians who oppose cash withdrawal limits concede this is the way to go, but the timing was wrong.
They also sought exemptions from election spending. Why are they looking for concessions? They want to use the stolen Commonwealth to buy our votes.”
They urged President Muhammadu Buhari to delve into the matter, given his sensitivity towards the nation.
