Premier League: I made a huge mistake – Michael Owen ten Hag lashed out at Ronaldo

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen says Eric ten Hag made a mistake in his decision about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Owen believes the Dutch coach should have made the 37-year-old a regular in his side’s selection.

According to Owen, Ronaldo could have solved the team’s goal-scoring issues.

The Portugal captain’s deal has been terminated by the Red Devils following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Ten Hag has demanded 20 goals a season from Marcus Rashford and Owen believes United already had 20 goals a season.

He said, “I heard Ten Hag talking about Marcus Rashford maybe he needs to score 20 goals this one, this one and the other. Well, they had 20 goals sitting right under his nose, but unfortunately he was on the bench a lot of the time.

“The way it was going, there had to be an end to it, but it didn’t have to be like that. He could have played him every week and then he would have solved the goal-scoring problem and that’s the whole point.”

Ronaldo scored 24 goals with the Red Devils last season under the leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralph Rangnick, but he did not find favor in the goal of Eric Ten Hag, who prefers to use Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in his attack.
