Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed he is very close to joining rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2021.
Ronaldo also claimed that other clubs were interested in signing him from Juventus last year.
But the 37-year-old insists he has followed his ‘heart’ and has rejoined the Red Devils.
“Well, honestly, it is [moving to City] was close. They talked a lot, and Guardiola said two weeks ago that they tried very hard to have me.
“But, you know, my history is at Manchester United. Your heart, you feel the way I did before, and it made the difference. And, of course, also, Sir Alex Ferguson.
So I made the decisions and I repeat: I was with conscience that it was a good decision.
“Things changed within 72 hours. You plan or they talked, not only Man City but other clubs as well. Manchester United were not part of those teams, but it surprised everyone, including me,” Ronaldo said.
Ronaldo claimed, in the early episodes of the interview with Piers Morgan, that he felt “betrayed by the club”.
He also made it clear that he had no respect for coach Erik ten Hag.
