Premier League: Jamie Carragher tells one Liverpool player he must sign to finish in the top four
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told Liverpool they must sign a January transfer window so they can finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
According to Carragher, Liverpool should sign a midfielder of the type of Georginho Wijnaldum, who along with Fabinho can protect their back four and prevent players from running.
The former defender spoke out after Liverpool’s 3-1 Premier League defeat by Brentford on Monday night.
“They’ve gone from a side challenging for four trophies to one fighting for a place in the Champions League. Liverpool didn’t sign a midfielder in the summer,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“They can’t get into the top four without signing a midfielder. I can’t see the change before the end of the season.
“They need [Georginio] A Wijnaldum-type midfielder, who together with Fabinho can protect these four defenders and prevent players from running in,” he added.
Liverpool currently ranks sixth on the English Premier League table.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will face Brighton in their next Premier League match on Saturday 14th January.
