Frank Lampard has revealed why Arsenal have performed so well in the Premier League this season.
Lampard said Arsenal’s improvement did not just happen overnight, but was the result of huge investment.
Lampard joined Everton after being sacked by Chelsea coach, succeeding Rafa Benitez 11 months ago.
Lampard has managed to maintain the Toffees’ place in the top flight but the team have remained inconsistent this season and are currently in the relegation zone.
Lampard could be sacked if Everton lose to Manchester United in the FA Cup tomorrow night, but the former Chelsea midfielder and manager insists he has what it takes to turn things around at the club.
Indeed, Lampard pointed to the difficulties Mikel Arteta faced during his first two years at Arsenal before turning them into title contenders, albeit after spending more than £300m on new players.
“Yes, I have what I consider an improvement in the way we try to move the team forward,” Lampard told the press on Thursday.
“There is no story if you look at the highest performing team in the Premier League this year in Arsenal for topping the league.
“If you look at their journey over the past three years, you will see what a journey can look like typically,” said Lampard, stressing that the journey has not been easy at all for the Gunners.
Before their 4-0 defeat at Brighton on Tuesday, the Toffees managed to hold Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in their previous match.
