Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has told Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho to see Alejandro Garnacho’s performance in the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Manchester City as motivation.
Sancho has been left out of Manchester United’s squad since the World Cup after manager Erik ten Hag revealed the England international was suffering “physically and mentally”.
Sancho, a £73m deal, has returned to Old Trafford but there is still no timetable for his return to the United team.
Murphy has now told the 23-year-old Sancho to look at Gamacho’s and United’s recent performances as motivation.
“Garnacho was a revelation against Manchester City on such a big stage, he was a revelation when he came,” Murphy told the Daily Mail.
“Not many 18-year-olds can approach the occasion with a mixture of maturity and courage.
“If I were serious about Sancho, I would look at him and United’s performance as motivation.”
