Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot said it was the “best decision” to refuse a move to Manchester United and stay in Turin.
The French midfielder said he was lucky to avoid a move to Old Trafford.
Rabiot was on the verge of a move to Old Trafford in the summer after the Red Devils agreed a fee with Juventus.
But the player’s representatives, of which his mother was a part, were demanding amazing wages.
Manchester United had to withdraw from a deal to sign the midfielder.
“It is true, there were contacts with Premier League clubs, but in the end, I was lucky to stay, probably the best decision,” he told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Premier League is the most watched league, but I don’t think about the future. I’m focused on the World Cup. The club and I are not in a hurry, there is calm, so we can look at all options.”
