Manchester United star Robbie Savage says the club will win the 2023-24 Premier League season if they can sign Harry Kane and Frenkie de Jong this summer.
The Red Devils have made commendable progress since Erik ten Hag joined from Ajax at the start of the season and are in contention for the title just five points clear of league leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
Ten Hag has made signing a new striker a top priority for the club this summer, with Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen topping his list of options.
United were desperate to land Barcelona star, De Jong last summer, but the Netherlands international has shown no interest in leaving the Camp Nou for Old Trafford.
There are hopes that potential new owners of Manchester United will be able to fund some summer transfer plans and Savage wants his old club to prioritize signings for Kane and De Jong.
“Add Harry Kane and Frenkie de Jong to this Manchester United squad and Eric ten Hag could head the frontrunners to the title next year,” Savage wrote in his column for The Mirror.
He continued, “If they bring in key players in the summer… United will challenge for the Premier League title next season.
“So set a date for May 2024 – if they add Kane and De Jong as the smash painters to the squad, after a decade the title could return to Manchester United.”
