Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given has backed his former club to win the Premier League title under coach Eddie Howe.
Howe took charge of a struggling Newcastle team in the Premier League and managed to keep Newcastle out of danger last season amid relegation fears after a poor start under former manager Steve Bruce, with them ending up 11th.
And things have gone much better this season, with Newcastle currently third at the Premier League table after their first 14 games.
Newcastle have shown their financial muscle since a Saudi-backed federation completed a £300m takeover of the club in October 2021 and brought in players such as Bruno Guimarães, Kieran Trippier and Alexander Isaacs.
“Why can’t he [Howe] Winning the title with the club? Said view of Mega Casino.
“When he first got the job, people were saying it would be a short-term option.
“I think a lot of people expected him to install the ship for a season or two because Newcastle had a big problem when he went there, but he did that and more.
“I think the board will think they have the right man in charge and that he should lead the club on this journey for a number of years.
“Newcastle need to take things step by step.
“If Newcastle can finish the Champions League this season, it will be a fantastic achievement and the next step after that will be the challenge for the Premier League title.”
