Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is preparing for a surprise move to coach another English club, Wigan Athletic.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Gerrard has been linked to the vacant managerial position on the EFL Championship team.
Gerrard sacked Aston Villa in the Premier League in October of this year after poor performances by the bad guys left them outside the bottom three of the Premier League table.
Aston Villa suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage, which ultimately led to the end of Gerrard’s training spell at Villa Park.
Gerrard, the former Rangers coach, left Aston Villa after overseeing 13 wins, eight draws and 19 losses in 40 games.
However, the former England captain may soon return to the dugout and be described as a shock candidate to replace Lim Richardson at Wigan Athletic.
Wigan Richardson was sent off on November 10 after eight straight matches of defeats.
The team is currently ranked 22nd in the championship table with just six wins in 21 matches.
