Premier League: They’re not the same anymore – Rafael van der Vaart names the team to win the title

Former Manchester United star Rafael van der Vaart says current Premier League leaders Arsenal are “showing signs of slipping” in the title race.

According to him, Mikel Arteta’s team began to lose control of the matches.

Manchester City travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal on Wednesday night and will move six points clear in the Premier League with a win while City could top the table with a win.

Mikel Arteta’s side have dropped five points from their last two matches, losing to Everton and drawing to Brentford.

Spurs hero Van der Vaart suspects the Gunners may run out of steam and feels the mental toll of the title race on young Arsenal could be a deciding factor.

“I think Arsenal are showing signs of slipping,” Van der Vaart told Ladbrokes: Fanzone.

“But most of these guys are not used to the pressure that comes with a title race. That’s how they feel now.

“They’ve gone through a run of games now without winning and Manchester City have bridged the gap. I just don’t think they’re the same anymore. Maybe I’m totally wrong. It’s just my feeling.

He pointed out that Manchester City and Manchester United are very close to taking the lead if Mikel Arteta and his men cannot keep up with the pace.

“Should I go so far as to say that Arsenal have been a little discovered? Maybe.”

Tottenham further indicated that the mentality of Arsenal’s young squad would go a long way to determining how long they would last.
