Premier League: Wenger names the player who can lead Arsenal to title glory
Arsenal’s legendary manager, Arsene Wenger, said the team “can go as far” in the title race and singled out their “incredible” captain, Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal are seven points clear of Premier League champions Manchester City after beating Brighton 4-2 on New Year’s Eve.
Wenger, who won three league titles during his time in charge, believes the current squad has the right mentality to lift the trophy again.
Odegaard scored his seventh goal of the season in the match, and Wenger was hugely impressed with his development.
“He makes decisions quickly and always optimally,” the Frenchman told TV2. “It’s amazing! I love him and the way he makes football look so easy.
“He’s developed very well. He’s really great.
“His decisions, he is also a leader in the team. You see that Norway is now getting more first-class players, and I hope they can do well internationally in the years to come.”
