The leader of the Yoruba Socio-Cultural Community, Avnifer, Chief Ayo Adebanjo said the North cannot dictate who becomes Nigeria’s president.
Adebanjo revealed this in Lagos on Monday.
He also criticized calls for the southeast to negotiate the election of a president for Nigeria.
The leader of Afenifere said that it is the right of the south-east to produce the chief of Nigeria without having to beg any district.
Adebanjo also dismissed suggestions that the North had the population to decide the president of Nigeria.
According to Adibanjo: “What right does the North have to dictate who will become our president?
It has been said that the southeast should come to negotiate with the north because politics is a numbers game.
My case is – and I told people yesterday – that the East’s case is not to beg for a favour; This is their right.
“However, every time I hear they have to move because the North has a population, what deceitful population? You can’t sell that to me.”
