Presidential election: The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has set Nigeria back more than 50 years – Ini Obi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set Nigeria back more than 50 years after the conclusion of the presidential election on February 25, said Ini Obi, the meeting operations room.
Obi also claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not even reach some of its polling units during the last general elections, adding that it was very shocking.
She stated this during an interview with Arise TV on Monday.
Obi said, “Because we don’t get offended by whom [APC’s Bola Tinubu, PDP’s Atiku Abubakar or LP’s Peter Obi] Wins. All of them are Nigerians who are competing. But the process is as good as the result you get. So the process is very disappointing.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission, i.e. the referee who has the power to conduct these elections, is not talking to Nigerians about what they are doing. I think they should get out.
We appeal to Nigerians not to give up. This is an experience of a lifetime, and we will experience it together. Many of us here. We will not leave this country to anyone.
“So whoever is trying to misrepresent us should be responsible for answering for that. But we are appealing for calm. We are calling for people to be calm and not give up and go and cast their vote.”
“But we from civil society hold INEC for what they have done. We also hold the security sector responsible for the places we have seen direct politicians to go and vote. This is the first election we are hearing about INEC not even getting to the polling units, which is very shocking.” They took us back more than 50 years.”
