Qatar 2022: Chelsea’s Coulibaly announces Mane

Senegal defender Kalidou Coulibaly has claimed that his team will miss striker Sadio Mane when they start the 2022 FIFA World Cup against the Netherlands in Qatar.

Coulibaly, who currently plays for his club in Chelsea, described Mane as a leader, adding that the Senegalese players will play with the Bayern Munich star.

Senegal will miss Mane when they face the Netherlands in the opening match of the World Cup on Monday night.

Mane is currently ruled out of the tournament due to the injury he sustained while playing for Bayern Munich.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Coulibaly said: “We will miss Mane in this World Cup. He is an important player for us and a captain.

“It was a little sad when we knew he wouldn’t be able to take part in the World Cup, but we have to keep working and playing for him because he wanted so badly to come.

“So, I think the Senegal team will play for him, and we show everyone that they can trust us.”
