Argentina’s captain, Lionel Messi, set five Guinness World Records records during the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Guinness World Records revealed this in a post on its website after the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup last weekend.
The five Guinness World Records are:
won the most FIFA World Cup Man of the Match awards (11); the first person to assist in five different FIFA World Cups; Most FIFA World Cup appearances as captain (19); Most appearances in FIFA World Cup tournaments by a player (male, 5) and most FIFA World Cup matches played by a player (26).
Aside from the five records, the Guinness Book of World Records announced on Tuesday that Messi’s Instagram post is now the most liked post in the platform’s history, with more than 62 million likes as of publication.
It is noteworthy that Messi led Argentina to win the World Cup this year after defeating France in the final match on Sunday, thanks to a 4-2 victory on penalties.
