Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira has defended Gareth Southgate’s decision to include Manchester United captain Harry Maguire in England’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to Vieira, the United centre-back deserves a place in the England squad for the World Cup.
Critics have criticized Southgate over the decision, saying Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehy should have been included in Maguire’s place.
“In terms of Mark, what he has to do is keep his performance consistent,” Vieira told the press ahead of Crystal Palace’s match against Nottingham Forest.
“Mark, if you compare him to Maguire, the difference is that Maguire knows [things] That international level that Mark does not know yet.
“Director [Southgate] He has to decide what he wants for that tournament.
“The manager knows the player better than us.”
