Rain in Lagos, deserted roads as election results come out

Heavy rain fell on parts of Lagos on Saturday night after the conclusion of the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The main roads on Lagos Island and the mainland remain deserted as residents watch the results of opinion polls as the results come in.

Only a few cars and a handful of people were seen on the roads in Oniru, Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and the Lekki-Epe Highway.

Residents of Yaba, Ikeja, Ikoton, Igando and other places on the mainland confirmed that movement of people and vehicles remains low.

The Daily Mail noted increased security in front of the Bourdillon residence of the Congress of All Progressives, APC, presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

Patrols by police and military officers have also been observed, while the headquarters of banks and other major companies remain under guard.
