Kaduna State Governor Nasir Al-Rifai stated that the redesign of the naira was done by people who are fighting against all progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
The Kaduna Command chief made the statement while addressing the people of the state on Thursday.
Al-Rifai noted that the policy was set up and sold to President Muhammadu Buhari by officials who lost in the primaries.
The General People’s Congress Party (GPC) has held the gubernatorial and presidential primaries on different days in June 2022.
After Tinubu’s victory “and he didn’t pick one for the vice-presidential post,” Rifai said, a currency redesign policy was put in place to ensure he was “deprived of what they claimed was a colossal war chest.”
The governor also mentioned what the alleged planners sought to achieve, including creating a nationwide liquidity shortage.
He said this will ensure that citizens are incited to vote against GPC candidates in all areas, which will lead to huge losses for the party in all elections.
Al-Rifai said the liquidity crisis along with the current fuel shortage had been planned since September 2022 so that the 2023 elections would not take place at all, leading to an interim national government led by a retired army general.
The former FCT minister added that the plot aimed to maintain a climate of fuel and food shortages to bring about “violence and a breakdown of law and order that would provide a fertile basis for an army takeover”.
