Residents flood automatic teller machines in Kaduna looking for money to travel the hours to the elections
Less than 24 hours before the general elections, Kaduna State residents continued to flood ATMs in the capital and its suburbs.
Customers who were waiting to withdraw money lamented that they had waited several days without a penny being cashed out.
Many said they needed money to travel to their various villages where they registered to vote and where their polling units are located before election day.
Speaking to DAILY POST in line at an ATM, Joseph Musa said he lives in Kaduna but his polling unit is in Kvachan and he needs money to fund his trip to the location of his polling unit.
Another resident, Ms. Ruth Mahalo, said her polling unit was in Kaduna but had been moved to Kachia where she hoped to be during the election and now needed money for her trip home.
Several others still on the waiting list claimed they only needed their own transport fares to get to various destinations ahead of Saturday’s election as there would be no move.
They also claimed that travel became very difficult because carriers refused to accept money transfers because they also could not withdraw their money from anywhere.
