Ronaldo “will not play Champions League football” for the Premier League team next season
Cristiano Ronaldo will receive a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al-Nassr.
ESPN reports that sources at the Saudi club insist there is no clause allowing Ronaldo to join Newcastle United on loan next season if they qualify for the Champions League.
The reports were described as “fake”.
Ronaldo will be officially unveiled as a player from Al Nasr at 7pm local time.
He has become the highest paid player in soccer after agreeing to a deal worth $75 million a year.
Ronaldo is believed to be seeking a return to Champions League football, but the 37-year-old has been snubbed by major European clubs after he mutually terminated his contract with Manchester United.
It was then alleged that Ronaldo only agreed to join Al-Nassr with a clause included in his contract that would enable him to leave for Newcastle, whose majority owners are the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The report also claimed, incorrectly, that Al-Nasr Company is also owned by the Public Investment Fund.
