So many post-presidential controversies, I apologize to Nigerians – Ikobesi
Dr Thomas Wilson Ikobisi, Coordinator of the revolutionary Yes WeFit Movement, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has demanded an apology to Nigerians over the alleged controversies following Saturday’s presidential election.
Ikobisi urged the Electoral Commission to cancel the ongoing cantonment process and reorganize further elections to restore Nigerians’ confidence in the electoral process.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the practicing doctor appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene for the country’s peace.
After the election, he said, dedicated personnel from INEC were unable to upload the results to the IReV server via the BVAS device.
He stated that this development raised avoidable doubts, especially since the committee was attributing the obstacles to technical reasons.
“The introduction of BVAS and iREV ensures that it will be a one-man vote and that the numbers of votes cast for each polling unit will be transmitted immediately to the INEC portal as indicated in the new electoral law 2022.
The few who managed to upload did so using offline mode, a process that many have claimed is vulnerable to tampering.
Since the sequential announcement of results began at the National Collection Center in Abuja on Sunday 26 February 2023, political parties have raised serious objections to the numbers allocated to their parties, claiming that these numbers do not reflect the votes cast in the various polling stations across the country.”
