The Abia PDP Campaign Council mourns the death of Akon

RT. Hon Shinidum Elishi, Director General of the Campaign Organization (Uchi Ndi Abia) of the late Abia State HDP gubernatorial candidate Professor Eleazar Ochina Aikon and former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Representatives, expressed his grief over Ikun’s shocking passage on Wednesday.

He was speaking in a brief statement signed and issued on Wednesday in Umuahia, capital of Abia state.

The late Professor Ushi-Ekun, prior to emerging as the ruling HDP district governor in the state, was Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU).

The Daily Post has learned that the People’s Democratic Party, Democratic Progressive Party, March 11 election candidate for Governor of Abia State, Professor Oceana Ekon died on Wednesday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

He had earlier received treatment in a UK hospital.

Ikon’s death was confirmed by his son, Chikezi, in a statement he issued on behalf of the family.

The statement read: “I regret to announce the death of my dear father, Professor Eleazar Oshena Ikon, who passed away at the National Hospital, Abuja today, January 25, 2023 by 4 am after a short illness.

“He was recovering after receiving appropriate treatment in the UK but he relapsed a few days ago which led to several heart attacks from which he never recovered.”

However, while responding to the latest developments in Wednesday’s release, Mr. Elechi, who took over as the current Director General of the Central Campaign Council of the PDP, consoled the family on the unfortunate demise of their manager and prayed to Almighty God to grant eternal rest to the soul of the late Uchina Ikun.

According to the release which was stated in part, “It is with a heavy heart but with complete submission to God’s will that the Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organization announces the death of the leading gubernatorial and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2023 general election, Professor Eleazar Oceana Ikon.”
