The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, granted bail to Senator of Oyo County, Pasi Albert Akpan.
The court granted bail for Akban on health grounds pending an appeal ruling.
On December 1, 2022, the Oyo Federal High Court led by Judge A. a. Okeke sentenced the senator to 42 years in prison for corruption.
Albert has been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for receiving exotic cars worth N204m from the Akwa Ibom State Government contractor, Jide Omokare.
In response, Albert thanked God after the court granted him bail.
In a Facebook post, the candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, wrote: “In every situation, God has something to say. It’s all about God. This is the same God.”
